Giving Back: Proud supporters of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Always remembering our humble beginnings, we are grateful to our customers whom choose to honor Spence Diamonds with their business. We are committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and work. The core philosophy for the Spence team is to exceed our guests needs, each and every time, to earn their business, which in turn fuels our ability to make a difference in the community.

With a focus on making a difference in children’s lives, we have donated $1,473,706 in cash and diamond jewelry, since 2007, to various charities and communities around the world.

Recently, the Spence team became proud supporters of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Over the next 5 years, Spence has made a financial commitment of $150,000 to support The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award work in empowering young people, ages 14 to 25, to Make a Difference in their own lives and the lives of others, by exploring their potential, taking on new challenges, giving back to their communities and achieving success.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic status, ability, ethnicity or gender. Divided into five key components (community service, skills, residential project, physical fitness and adventurous journey), The Award is unique to the individual participant. No two Awards are exactly the same. The Award educates and motivates youth to become well-rounded citizens equipped with invaluable life skills. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award was founded in 1956 by His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh K.G. K.T. The Award came to Canada in 1963 and currently runs in 130 countries around the world. To date almost 7 million young people have challenged themselves by participating in The Award.
